PSA: Lift with your dang legs
Ahem... ouch.

Lift with your legs, fool
We're done moving stuff out here to Atlanta. As much as I tried to remember to lift with my legs, I think I must have been doing something majorly wrong, because I am now the proud owner of a 3 day lower backache. I think I avoided serious injury, based on the fact that I can still feel my legs and that I've maintained bowel and bladder control, but I've definitely tweaked my back.
I won't clutter this simple public service announcement with idle chatter, except to say that lifting with your back is a stupid and dangerous thing. Oh for God's sake, don't do it. 'Kay bye.

Just a note from the strong back, weak mind that helped move in...
Why didn't you show me this before we moved? I think we could have handled the piano differently. I don't know. Perhaps I would have chosen not to get at the bottom and lift it down the ramp or something...
Nah. Enjoyed it. Didn't even remain sore for more than one day! How is it that I got the bottom side and you wound up with a bach-ache?

I chalk that oddity up to my relative inexperience with moving heavy furniture.
You know, some folks say a man's made out of mud. A poor man's made of muscle and blood... muscle and blood and skin and bones... a mind that's weak and a back that's strong.
You load 16 tons, and what do you get?
