You have got to check this place out:
Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater
We had the chance to see this place on our recent visit to Denver, and it was awesome. Totally awesome. And that's without any concert going on. So the amphitheather is made of these huge ancient rocks (250 million years old, if you believe those geologists), which were apparently in place before the Rocky Mountains came into being. The mere thought of how long ago that is... well it's mind-boggling. Think about it... Average person lives about 70 years, right? Well those rocks have been around for 3.5 million lifetimes. Anyway, these rocks are also taller than Niagara Falls and much more awesome to look at.
I highly recommend a visit if you get the chance. They're just west* of Denver, right at the front range of the Rockies. I've already made a mental note to go see a concert there. I don't care who's playing, but I'm totally there.
*thanks to my lovely wife for helping me, since I seem to have temporarily misplaced my sense of direction.
